Abdominoplasty
Tummy tuck also known as abdominoplasty tightens and smooths out the abdomen for a refined contoured appearance. Women and men may be interested in the tummy tuck because of struggles associated with:
- Weight change that can create sagginess and loose skin in the abdomen
- Pregnancy that results in lax muscles that protrude over the stomach
- Genetic characteristics that present with an extended lower abdomen
The incision
The abdominoplasty incision is located under the bikini line, virtually undetectable in clothing unusually inconspicuous without clothing. The extent of the incision depends upon the extent of the procedure that is required to produce a positive outcome.
the technique
Based upon your physical exam Dr. Bennett will determine which technique will be used to achieve optimal results in restoring the contour of the abdomen. Using a standard, mini or extended approach the abdominal muscles will be tightened, excess fat and skin will be removed, and the skin and tissue will be repositioned.
recovery
Dr. Bennett provides a complete list of instructions to follow after the procedure. Most return to normal activities within a week or two following the surgery. There are recovery aids such as compression garments, a pain pump and muscle relaxant medication available to assist in the recovery process.
